Fondazione Antonio Ratti

Seta. Il Novecento a Como

EXHIBITION
16 May–30 September 2001
Villa Olmo

The purpose of this exhibition was to describe the history of the Como textile cluster from the very origin to the end of the XX century by exhibiting three-years of research carried out by Museo Studio del Tessuto in the Como silk industry archives, which were under the scrutiny of the historians for the first time.

Not only did the halls of Villa Olmo housed the display of fabrics, but also dresses and accessories made by the most famous couturiers, as well as paintings, photographs, and preliminary sketches. The broad and diverse documentary apparatus turned fabrics and dresses into a key to interpret the cultural mood and the art movements that set the pace of the XX century.
