Open Archive: Oro de los Andes. Peru's Pre-Ispanic Textiles from pre-History to Modernity
LECTURE
30 November 2024
Fondazione Antonio Ratti is pleased to invite you on Saturday 30th November at 10am to a lecture by archeologist Carolina Orsini, following a previous encounter about Pre-Colombian Textiles and Natural Dyes.
Peru's rich textile heritage has fascinated scholars and enthusiasts for centuries. From the intricate weaves of the pre-Ceramic period to the vibrant textiles of today, these precious artefacts have played a crucial role in the cultural and economic history of the region. In this lecture we will illustrate the context, technique, use and significance of the real gold of the Andes, namely textiles, using as an example, but not limited to, the rich heritage preserved at the Fondazione Antonio Ratti in Como, brought to new splendour by recent studies and restoration.
The lecture will be held in italian.
A visit to the textile collection will follow.
