A Camel Is a Horse Designed by a Committee (Attempts at Rewriting the Wor(l)d)

EXHIBITION
16 October–8 November 2009
Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, Fondazione Claudio Buziol

The exhibition provided an opportunity to get to know the work of the twenty-one young artists who attended the workshop held by Walid Raad in Como in July, commencing with the projects carried out during the seminar.

Staged at two different venues, including Palazzetto Tito – Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, A Camel Is a Horse Designed by a Committee presented installations, performances, videos, photographs, and drawings that tackled the questions discussed with the visiting professor in a variety of ways. The title chosen by the artists for the exhibition suggested the question of the artist's fundamental role in redefining the languages and perspectives of the contemporary world.

Made for the 4th time this year, the Epson award was assigned by a jury made up of Carla Conca (Business Manager of Epson Italia Video Projectors), Angela Vettese (President of Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa) and Anna Cestelli Guidi (Visual Arts Curator of Fondazione Musica per Roma, Auditorium Parco della Musica). The winners were: Silvia Giambrone, Dan Starling and Jaša.

The exhibition, organized by Anna Daneri, Cesare Pietroiusti (FAR) and Stefano Coletto (Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa), was staged by the Fondazione Antonio Ratti and Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa in collaboration with the Fondazione Claudio Buziol and with the support of Epson.
